Serve in the Twin Cities with the Good Neighbors Staff from Appalachia. If you never had the chance to go on a church youth mission trip or if you did go and want to go again, here's your chance! Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our youth mission trip will be local and other adults are welcome to join in.
St. Luke's is teaming with "Good Neighbors" from Kentucky (coming to us), who is partnering with Urban Ventures in Minneapolis to provide local community service work that will benefit the Twin Cities and especially the areas impacted by the recent riots. We are working with a small business on East Lake Street and doing a home repair in North Minneapolis.
Come for the week, a day, a morning or an afternoon. Come without cost. If able to make a donation suggested amount is $350 for the week, $70 a day and $35 a half day. Money is for building supplies, Good Neighbors Staffing, and a Licensed Contractor.
Invite family, friends, and neighbors to join in helping others in need making Christ known in our community. The church is not a building, it is the gathering of believers wherever they may be. Jesus' first word to the
Great Commission is "Go!" Starting on the shores of Lake Wapogasset and ending on the waters of Lake Superior, with a variety of mission trips in between the church goes out. Children can go to camp starting in 1st Grade. In 8th grade students begin their rotation of 5-Years of Mission Trips. How wonderful to hear young students share with excitement what their first mission trip will be. In addition, every three years students have the opportunity to attend the ELCA Youth Gathering. The final youth trip is for High School Graduates, catching the wind (Spirit) as they sail around the Apostle Islands and into their post-high school futures. This can only happen with the dedicated adults, taking time away from work and family to be leaders. Thank You!

Memories from SUMMER 2019
High School Mission Trip to New York City teaching VBS!
This is what it means to be Church, congregations coming together to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Sharing resources including talent and having a lot of fun along the way. We partnered with Prince of Peace, Roseville, MN. In total the students led four vacation bible schools. First one was at St. Luke's in June. Then we served both Advent Lutheran in Manhattan and Our Saviour Lutheran in Jamaica, Queens in July. In August we were at Prince of Peace in Roseville. The students raised their own money. The adults volunteered their time. And everyone had a lot of fun. The students were excited to tour the Big Apple, but during our reflection time what they loved most were the relationships built with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Our kids and our community is changed because of your faithful presence. Your energy, creativity, and genuine commitment to the Gospel inspired our kids and congregation. Your amazing decor, delicious treats, contagious laughter, beautiful singing, creative storytelling, and energetic play (among so many other things) was a delight! Our staff could not stop remarking on how kind and flexible and joyful your group was. We do not have adequate words to say thank you. Please know we continue to life you in prayer. Knowing that our siblings in faith are doing such good work, thousands of miles away, brings us joy and courage. It gives us hope. God bless, Pastor Danielle and our Advent staff."

A wonderful time of reflection and preparing for their futures. The students. The trip includes living together on a sailboat, making meals, learning how to sail, having morning devotions and the students lead evening devotions. Each claims a Bible Verse for the year ahead.
